WELCOME TO SOUTH DEVINGTON | A Proud Eastside Community Growing Together
Devington, a neighborhood located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, is a well established urban / near-suburban area with a mix of residential housing and commercial corridors nearby.
The neighborhood organization was formally registered in 1997, and since then redevelopment continues to grow in the area. In particular, the redevelopment of Devington Plaza is moving forward with the plan to revitalize the space into a mix of housing, community, hub, restaurants, entertainment, events space, and much more.
Although Devington residents usually rent rather than own, the median home value is relatively low compared to the nation scale. According to Niche.com the median home value is approximately $119,075. In addition, the cost per square foot and rent is relatively low in many parts. With that being said, for people seeking affordability in the city area, Devington could have an appeal.
Devington, only around 8 miles northeast of downtown Indianapolis, offers its residents proximity to the greenery of Fort Harrison State Park and the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The neighborhood also has several shopping plazas and local retail corridors such as Arlington Village, Shadeland Corner, and Devington Plaza with many other small businesses serving the local community as well.
For commuters, the area is close to I-465 and I-70, allowing for easy transportation. For those in need of public transportation, Devington is partly-walkable but still car-dependent; IndyGo bus service runs along North Arlington Ave and most of its cross streets.
