WELCOME TO DREXEL GARDENS | Where Heritage and Opportunity Intersect

Drexel Gardens, located on the West-side of Indianapolis, has a very strong sense of community, brought through decades of growth and change. The neighborhood dates back as early as 1923 when the American Town Lot company subdivided the area into 1,254 lots. In addition to its history, the name "Gardens" comes from the early plan that included homes with separate adjacent lots for a garden. Saying that, the neighborhood is primarily comprised of detached single-family homes with lots of mid-century builds. Many homes in the area are very affordable and may appeal to investors or first-time buyers.

Outdoor life can easily be pursued courtesy of nearby Stout Field Park, a centerpiece of recreation within the neighborhood. The playgrounds, basketball courts, splash pad, and open green fields here can be the points for engaging in outdoor activities. The park serves to connect its residents with their community events and is very safe for families with children. Stout Field itself began as an Army Air Field during World War II, building a legacy that still shapes community identity and street layout today.

Drexel Gardens also has a handful of favorites for convenience and daily livability right in the neighborhood. Just a short drive east, Rhodius Park and Belmont Park add additional greenery, trails, and outdoor fun if one needs a change of scenery. For shopping or dining, residents head to nearby Lynhurst Drive and West Washington Street, lined with small diners, local pizzerias, and classic drive-ins that keep the area's old-school Indy flavor alive. Big-box stores and restaurants along Rockville Road are also minutes away, making everything from groceries to weekend errands easily accessible.

Families in the area enjoy being a part of the Wayne Township School District, which is renowned for strong extracurricular programs and community involvement. Younger students attend Drexel Garden Elementary School, while older students attend Ben Davis High School, one of the largest in the state.

The neighborhood is situated south of Interstate 70 and near Interstate 465, making commutes across the city fast and easy. Downtown workers and students find the drive to be less than fifteen minutes, while several IndyGo bus routes serve the surrounding corridors.
