WELCOME TO AVONDALE MEADOWS | A Neighborhood Rooted in History, Growing with Opportunity

Avondale Meadows, a northeast Indianapolis suburb, has a rich history that dates back to 1947. The neighborhood is rich in character, from Cape Cod cottages and small bungalows to traditional ranches, with values waiting to be savored by homebuyers or investors looking for a project.

The great outdoors is a big part of daily life. Fall Creek runs along the boundary of the neighborhood, and its seven-mile trail gives residents the perfect place to walk, ride bikes, or just gaze over old bridges and limestone banks. In addition, Washington Park is only a trot down the street, with more than a hundred acres of greenery to enjoy. Whether you play a pickup game of basketball, a game of disc golf, a playground hangout, or a summer splash park outing, the park is never still with activity. The Avondale Meadows YMCA adds even more potential with everything from fitness activities and martial arts to childcare and community programs.

The area also has plenty of hangout spots that make it feel alive and together. The historic Meadows Shopping Center was once the first commercial area outside of downtown Indianapolis, and today The Shops at Avondale Meadows carries on that tradition in some form by mixing in grocery stores, essentials, and local hotspots. When it comes to dining, options in the region are staggering. King Ribs Bar-B-Q has been serving smoky classics for decades, while Jamaican Breeze brings the flavor of the islands with its jerk chicken and oxtail dishes. For larger stores, Glendale Town Center is only a short drive away with favorites like Target and Lowe’s.

Living here also means being in close distance to the Indiana State Fairgrounds' neighbors. There are rides, concerts, food booths, and exhibits that spring to life in the area each summer, and the fairgrounds themselves remain busy with shows, events, and community activities the rest of the year.

Avondale Meadows students have several school options close to home, from Avondale Meadows Academy to Avondale Meadows Middle School, which opened in 2017. Shortridge High School, which features Indiana's only public International Baccalaureate program, and other local charter schools, are where high school students attend.

Transportation is not an issue because downtown Indianapolis is just a short drive away. Drivers will be driving straight down Fall Creek Parkway in a matter of minutes, and bus riders who need public transportation will have access to several IndyGo stops within the subdivision.
