Lawrence

Lawrence, located on the northeast side of Indianapolis, is known for its  “award-winning schools, affordable housing, beautiful … and friendly atmosphere” as noted on the neighborhood's website.

For those who love the outdoors, Lawrence makes it very accessible as it borders Fort Harrison State Park, a 1,700-acre wooded park right in or adjacent to Lawrence. The park features trails for hiking, biking, walking etc. Other parks in the area include Lawrence Community Park which features playgrounds, a sledding hill for winter, skate park, walking trails, etc. 

The area emphasizes engagement within the community, arts, and local culture. The Arts for Lawrence and the Fort Ben Cultural Campus embody this by offering gallery space, performance venues, class opportunities, and much more. In addition, the area provides a variety of diverse dining and cuisine options. The area ranges from German cafés like Heidelberg Haus Café & Bakery and a “Taco Trail” of Mexican restaurants along Pendleton Pike.

Interstate 465 runs right along Lawrence’s western edge, making commuting super easy to other parts of Indy. Pendleton Pike (State Road 67) and 56th Street are two of the main roads that cut through Lawrence, connecting to Fort Harrison State Park, shops, restaurants, and neighborhoods.East 56th Street leads straight into the heart of Lawrence, near the Fort Ben area, which is a hub for dining, parks, and community events.
